Howdy from central Texas ya'll. After several years of gardening, and more recently learning to grow microgreens. I am excited to finally launch my dream. Carter Acres Microfarm.
Back in 2012, after years of the work a day and commute home we sold our South Austin home and moved 20 miles east to Bastrop County. With 5 acres to work with and a desire for a simpler life, we began to work and invest in the property. Through lots of trials and tribulations I learned to work and garden in my very clay heavy soils. Using methods like hugelkultur, sheet mulching. composting, and light tilling.I have been happily growing patty pan squash, mountains of okra, cherry tomatoes, yellow squash, broccoli, radishes, and onions. I also use raised beds for cool weather herbs and carrots. Combined with the addition of microgreens like mild mix, sunflower, pea, beet, and arugula. Then topped with micro herbs like thai basil or genovese basil, We offer items for any palate.
Now in 2020 Carter Acres Microfarm is a reality! We are currently fine tuning our packaging to be as close to 100% home compostable as possible. From basic stamped logos using eco friendly dyes and inks, to using simple cardboard boxes closed without harsh adhesives. Also we have found home compostable produce bags, and paper shopping bags. This will be the Carter Acres Commitment. We will distribute only home-compostable packaging. With knowledge that recycling has been mostly ineffective to control plastics, Companies need to commit to being responsible for not only selling the product, but being concerned where the packaging ends up.
Daven! This is so exciting and I look forward to seeing the farm "grow"!
Can't wait to get my first order...
